PostSubject: The Immortals   Mon Aug 09, 2010 1:04 am

What happens after you transcend the abilities of a mortal being? So powerful that your existence cannot be denied? Is it all over then, secure in your immortality? No your struggle has just begun. As a being struggling for immortality you are pent against beings more dangerous and powerful then known to human imagination. Beings incomprehensible to a feeble human mind. Reality will torn asunder has concepts are thrust on you that would destroy the minds of lesser entities. Are you prepared for the challenge of finding your place in a world of alternate realities, multiple planes of existence, and great entities that can destroy worlds and tear open rifts in reality.

Planeswalker
Skimming through the multiverse sound like your cup of tea (or mug of beer)? Tearing open portals from far away places to move about sound like more fun than walking or riding? Then the Planeswalker is the Path for you! These beings are a strange mix of travelers, famous for recounting tales around the tavern for their exploits and adventures anywhere and everywhere. Their mastery over dimensional flux allows them to exist in a state of quasi suspended animation, no longer allowing time to flow through them, or so they say.

Ascended
All life is a journey, but unlike most people, for the Ascended it's more than a single journey. Each time the Ascended dies, getting closer and closer to the physical and spiritual perfection that they've undertaken as a task to master. They seek a higher plane of existence, along their own morality and ethos, whatever that may be. Some would compare them to gods, while others would say they transcend the whole concept. Ascended are all about attaining perfection, and with this in mind, they are granted the simple but extremely powerful ability to pick their own fates, though sheer force of will.

Time Lord
Time Lords are a confused bunch, as could be expected from anyone who messes with reality at a fundamental level like they do. When asked, many speak of relation to critical events as opposed to dates and places, and when further questioned about their origins, they speak as though they were always a Time Lord, then in the same sentence speak of becoming one in the future yesterday. Annoying to say the least! Their mastery over the flow of time is second to none however, with all the imaginable benefits.

Time Lords begin with the ability to slow time, then stop it, and finally rewind it altogether, allowing them to erase certain mistakes (such as being gutted like a fish in battle). They actually review and select more favorable outcomes, and force themselves to exist in this particular occurrence, rather than actually change time itself (that's impossible they claim). This translates to a lot of messing about with causality and an equal amount of unfair kills, avoiding wounds and re-do's on random results, which would be perfect if not for the dreaded paradox elementals, who do their best to hunt time lords actively, often when they are kicking back enjoying a pint at the tavern. Beware, this is not a path for those who like certainty in their actions! Stuff will get weird!

Vampire
While originally thought to hail from the Deadlands, Vampire cult have sprung up across the land and can be seen in all cultures. While some consider the curse of vampirism a disease to be cleansed, all who know of it acknowledge that in exchange for all their drawbacks, allergy to sunlight being the obvious one, Vampires are effectively immortal as long as they drink the blood of the living. What's more, this feeding grants the vampire super human strength and speed, along with other less tangible benefits.Vampires drain the blood of their foes mid battle, healing their wounds at super speed, allowing them to fight almost endlessly (as long as the blood doesn't run out!). Vampires of extreme power transcend their limitation and gain the ability to walk in the light of day, effectively severing all but one weakness. Blood holds no power over a Daywalker but they must feast on souls to maintain their immortality.

Primal
The connection with the land has always been strong amongst those in the Mountain Kingdoms, whether it be a connection to the mountains, forest, or valleys they all call home. The Primal takes this one step further, pledging themselves to the land's service in exchange for being able to draw from its near limitless power. The Primal is able to tap into this power to improve their combat abilities drastically, meaning they can fight against powerful monsters with greater ease. And just in case the fights don't go as well as planned, they will occasionally conjure a helpful nymph, who has her own special brand of helping magic to help soothe those wounds after a battle.

Elemental
While the Primal is one with the land, the Elemental is one OF the land, with a physical transformation growing steadily in size and potency as they gain power, until they eventually resemble a creature made of the toughest stone known! The invulnerability of their rock-like skin turns them into an unstoppable juggernaught, ready to stomp and smash their way through any battlefield! They have the ability to shrug off wounds that would normally fell a dragon.

Celestial
Some beings find a way to devote themselves to a higher calling, that of the heavens, or occasionally of an ideal greater than themselves and the affairs of mortals. The Celestial is the embodiment of such a goal, with those following this path typically sprouting wings, developing eyes that glow like golden orbs, and finally causing their physical form to develop into an image of perfection. Celestials grow even stronger as they grow in raw power, often finding their wounds miraculously healed after battles.

Abyssal
Some are born with the blood of the abyss running through their veins, but for some the only option for immortality is one of bargain and trickery. Becoming an Abyssal involves making a pact with the lower planes in exchange for eternal life. Most demons and their ilk will happily make such an agreement and then flaunt it with the would-be immortal, but as a powerful individual, you have learned how to make the deal properly and ensure that the demons keep their part of the deal, at least for now. The Abyssal is able to conjure Imps and other beings of the lower planes to assist them in battle, in addition, they have the ability to blast enemies with Abyssal power, not only causing massive wounds but also healing the immortal at the same time for larger and larger amounts.

Avatar
The Avatar is the embodiment of the Emperor's will. He is an extension of his lord, ceasing to be truly him or herself, but rather a hybrid of the two beings. Only the greatest of champions are selected to partake in the highly secretive ceremony of extension, where they are whispered to link their soul with the Emperor's for all time, as an act of purest devotion. In exchange for this, the Avatar is able to channel the immense power of the Emperor like no other, effectively becoming a new body for this immensely powerful entity, who'd rule the universe and have his Avatar's as his lords. Avatar's find their chance of success increasing almost each round, making victory more of a certainty the longer a fight goes on. The most powerful Avatar's also learn to simply cause their enemies to die by simply staring at them, should they be weak willed enough.

Chosen
Not all of the Steel Empire's greatest champions are offered the chance to become an Avatar. Some instead are said to be Chosen. Chosen are above the nobles in many ways, acting as a enforcers and guardians for the Empire, as well as vassals given tasks of great importance. The Chosen attains its immortality by regular infusions of essence from the Emperor himself, and a ritual of transformation into a physically perfect individual. The Chosen becomes a true hero to his people, with immense fighting ability that reaches supernatural heights, and the ability to slaughter enemies before they even get a chance to fight back. Due to their physical perfection and sharp mental abilities, they learn faster, some say via connection with the Emperor's network of other Chosen, who subconsciously share experiences.

Shadelord
The Shadelord embraces the power of the Shadow Realm, using it to fuel their power and transcend the mortal bonds. They become creatures of nightmare made real, and learn to manipulate the flow of energy released in others death to their advantage.

They can siphon death energy to heal their wounds, eventually even going beyond their normal maximum, as well as conjuring shadelings .

Lich
The powers of the Lich lay in their ability to reform after defeat, as though it never happened, often ignoring any death penalty completely (and occasionally reforming instantly in battle to continue fighting!), as well as a gradually building power to instantly snuff out the life force of an enemy, the longer any battle continues.

Demigod
Some powerful characters contain the spark of godhood, and in their quest for immortality, decide to focus their efforts on turning this spark into a raging storm of god-like power! With each deed, you gather more and more reputation, as word spreads of your intentions of godhood.Players on the Demigod path will be able to use this reputation to enhance their powers, or even causing enemies to give up before a battle even begins with a simple gesture as they bask in your divine magnificence.

Dragonsoul
There are some with the blood of dragons flowing through their veins, and those who pick the Dragonsoul path attempt to take on aspects of the mighty beasts to aid in their adventures. The eventual goal is one of transformation into a mighty dragon, with all the associated powers and benefits.Players on the Dragonsoul path will be able to breathe fire on enemies mid battle, be better protected by their dragon scales and claws, and even shrug off wounds completely once their dragon hide grows strong enough.

Name: Gabriel Van Helsing

Age: 18

Race: 'Human' (Celestial)

Occupation: High School senior

Looks:

Description: Doesn't care much for any of his childhood and never really payed to much attention to it. Was always in a rush to get out into the real world for he always had a strong feeling that he was meant to do something. Something good, maybe evil, but something...Generally a nice guy; easy to get along with. Good sense of humor. Trys to stick up for the under dog when he knows it'll actually help and do something. Believes in always doing the right thing, yet hes still confused about what the right thing really is. He believes strongly in God, but questions him sometimes, though he knows he shouldn't. Would do anything to save the people he cares; even giving up his own life.

Vlad yawned loudly as he splashed water on his face, trying to wake himself up for the first day of the new school year. Vlad stared at himself in the mirror as he began to attack his messy hair with a comb. He gave up after a few minutes of trying to untangle his wild mess of hair and headed downstairs.

Today was Gabriel's first day of school on his last year. He couldn't wait till the last day. As he walked through the front doors, twenty minutes early, with his half school uniform (white rolled up sleeve collared shirt, red tie, and black pants without his belt) breaking the rule yet again. With his sleeves rolled down and his jacket, he would get way too hot. His belt made his pants just way too tight, so he really didn't care about the uniform and the school staff have become complacent as well. Gabriel rubbed his eyes, still in the process of waking fully up, and shakes his hair out into his face.

Rolled up sleeves... kinda confused as he was, walked right into the bullies... And ask for help on his new schedule... as they bully him, (he wasen't surppose to show his fighting skills) the teachers came and told them to get to class... he stared at the girl... the one he saw earlier bcuz they had almost the same classes...
